GCSE Doggy Day Care

Write a persuasive article about your new doggy day care business.

You can make it formal but fun. Entertain your readers at the same time as encouraging them to use your new business.

Think about:
What kind of area you might use to look after the dogs.
Whether you have land to walk them on or would need to go to local areas.
How you will keep the dogs safe.
How you will make the dogs feel loved.
How expensive it might be.

Don't forget to explain  how fantastic you are and how those cute (and not so cute) dogs are going to love spending the day with you. And each other!

Check out my book Creative Writing for Teens for more ideas and longer projects showing you how to write for yourself and the exams.

Project: Mammoths

Time to research!

This means finding out facts and then writing them out in your own words. It's a great way to find out about interesting and exciting topics. Learning to research by yourself means you will learn a lot more than only following questions or doing homework someone else gives you.

This time you are going to research Mammoths. Use the headings below to discover more about Mammoths and to add extra detail. Make notes for each heading then write them all into proper sentences at the end so that you have about a page of facts about Mammoths.

Headings
What were the earliest mammoths like?
What different kinds of mammoths were there?
Were they similar to elephants?
What was the biggest type of mammoth and how big would it look next to an elephant?
Why did mammoths go extinct?
Might we see mammoths again in the world?

For lots more project ideas and practice at independent research, have a look at my Big Little Projects book.

Where did they come from?

Write about a very strange day. Make it sound like a diary entry.

The day starts with running out of your house, and ends with you running back in. The rest of your day/diary entry should include:

pigs
a bus stop
two ice creams
a fierce hen

You can add as many extra details as you like.

KS3 The Barbeque

You are really excited to go to the barbeque at the new neighbours' house!

Look at the ideas below then write the story or description of your time at the barbeque.

Ideas
Your neighbours only moved in a few days ago
The neighbours have children, a dog and a tortoise
You are afraid of wasps
Your new neighbours have a very small garden

You can describe more about the neighbours themselves or about what happens at the barbeque, or mix both.
